Embodying people with dementia: the role of dance in an arts-based dance therapy research project

In this workshop we draw upon research, literature, and our experience writing a book chapter for a Dutch arts-based research manual (to appear in 2019). You will be introduced to an arts-based project conducted with people living with dementia in a Dutch nursing home (Gilcher, 2017), including a live performance of the artistic product (dance) that emerged from this research. Subsequently, you will be invited to respond to what you saw in word and movement and to reflect on the usefulness of dance as a research tool.
