Being Moved. Research findings on effects and therapeutic mechanisms of dance movement therapy

Prof. Dr. phil. habil Sabine C. Koch

(Englisch)

The presentation will provide an overview of two major lines of research in DMT (a) evidence-based research (testing that DMT works), (b) active factors research in DMT (testing how DMT works), and touch upon (c) arts-based research (testing how the arts can be employed in knowledge generation). The focus will be on active factors of DMT, such as experiencing beauty, body-mind unity, rhythmic movement, play and non-goal directedness, creation, and being moved and the empirical evidence around these therapeutic mechanisms. We will discuss how this new knowledge can be fruitfully used in research, clinical practice, and training.
